A community space for nutrition and mental health professionals to explore research together.
What It Is
The Mood Matters Journal Club is a monthly live discussion where we dive into current research at the intersection of nutrition and mental health. It’s designed for dietitians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals who want to stay informed, ask questions, and apply insights to real-life practice, without the pressure of formal presentations or dry recaps.
Whether you’re brand new to the research or deeply familiar, you’re welcome here.
What to Expect
- Live, 1-hour virtual meetings on Google Meet. Meetings are on the 4th Thursday of the month.
- Open discussion format—bring your takeaways, questions, and clinical lens
- Research article provided in advance (always open-access)
- Recording access if you can’t make it live
- Low-cost, flexible pricing: $7 per session or just $5.60/month

Optional Reading
Many of us didn’t get adequate training in how to evaluate scientific research. To get a basic overview, consider reading my article, Evaluating Research and Translating It to Real Practice.
FAQs
While it’s preferred that you read the article beforehand, many participants skim the abstract or just show up ready to listen and learn.
We all have lives to live, and we all understand that life may take precedence over reading a specified journal article by a set deadline. Don’t let that keep you from the conversation!
A recording is sent to all who register. You will also receive an AI-generated synopsis and any follow-up you may need related to the conversation.
Nope! While much of the conversation includes nutrition, we welcome therapists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with an interest in mental health.
These sessions aren’t pre-approved, but dietitians can count them toward self-study credits. You can request a certificate of attendance if needed.
If you’re not a dietitian, check with your credentialing body to find out about continuing education credit options.
